Risk management in the implementation of large construction projects
Abstract
The subject of this article is risk management in relation to large construction projects that have a well-developed project team, a high capital intensity, and a significant amount of uncertainty.
The article analyzes international and Russian standards, methodologies, and concepts related to risk management. Taking into account the specific features of project management in the construction industry in the Russian Federation, the article proposes an organizational framework for risk management processes, a risk impact assessment scale, and a 3×3 risk response strategy matrix. Practical recommendations are given on the choice of management strategies for each risk level, and practical recommendations are also given on the organizational support of the risk management system.
A promising area for further research in terms of practical benefits for the industry may be the formation of a classification of the most common risks for construction projects.
