OPTIMIZATION OF THE NONLINEAR SHOCK ABSORBER CHARACTERISTIC

Abstract

A method of optimization of nonlinear shock absorber characteristic by minimization of sprung weight acceleration is proposed. The quarter car model is considered in the paper. Shock absorber characteristic is represented by piecewise-linear function. To find out the optimized characteristic of the shock absorber, the complete factorial experiment for four parameters of the shock absorber has been done. To evaluate the integral ride comfort index, sprung weight frequency responses have been calculated. Optimized characteristic of the shock absorber is determined by minimization of this index.
