The article considers the current state of economic security of the Russian Federation, identifies the main problems and identifies ways to solve them. The preconditions that actualize the issue of the need to ensure the economic security of the state are formulated. In addition, the authors analyze the external and internal threats to economic security, formed in the context of the integration of the Russian Federation into the world economy. Particular attention is paid to such dependencies as instability of macroeconomic growth, structural deformation in the economy, the impact of external market conditions on the national economy, the share of products with a high share of value added in GDP. The indicators of economic security are defined, using which the measures aimed at improving the welfare of the country and the development of social, economic, political and cultural spheres of public life are proposed. The logical result of the study was the conclusion that economic security acts as a material basis for ensuring the national security of the state.
